Perfect Table Plan - create a table seating plan for your wedding or event

PerfectTablePlan v4.0.1

This release adds a few bug fixes to version 4.0.0. You will require a version 4 licence key to unlock the full functionality. You can buy a licence key here (or upgrade from a previous version here).

We recommend that you back-up any important plan files before installing any new release.

The download links are at the bottom of the page.

Backward/forward compatibility

4.0.1 can read plan (.tp) files saved by any earlier version of PerfectTablePlan.

Reading 4.0.1 plans into versions of the software before 4.0.1 may lose some data.

System requirements

PerfectTablePlan runs on Windows 2000 or later and MacOSX 10.3.9 or later. It has been successfully tested on the Windows Vista and MacOSX 10.5 operating systems. More detailed system requirements are here.

Enhancements

The following enhancements have been made since version 3.1.4:

Windows and Macintosh

1. Oval tables have been added. [Added in v4.0.0]

oval_table1

2. Semi-circular tables have been added. These can have seats along the straight side or the curved side or both. You can combine semi-circular tables with other tables to create complex shapes. [Added in v4.0.0]

3. Rows of seats have been added. Move a row of seats by dragging either end of the row. [Added in v4.0.0]

4. You can now display more realistic looking seats by setting the Seats drop-down list in the Floor plan or Table plan pane to chair. [Added in v4.0.0]

5. Tableware (plate+knife+fork) can now optionally be drawn in the Floor plan and Table plan panes. [Added in v4.0.0]

6. Additional options rectangular+name and chair+name have been added to the Seats drop-down list in the Floor plan and Table plan. [Added in v4.0.0]

chair with name

7. The Seats drop-down list in the Floor plan and Table plan panes now has an additional option name only (banquet). This rotates some guest names at the top and bottom of rectangular tables to 45 degrees. This makes it easier to read the names and is particularly useful when there is a head table with sprigs. [Added in v4.0.0]

name_only_banquet

8. The Table Plan pane can now print all the tables in a single operation. All the pages are scaled uniformly (i.e. the seats are the same size on every page) for consistency. If you only want to print the current table, click on the Setup button in the Print window and change the pages to be printed. [Added in v4.0.0]

9. The Table Plan pane is now exported to a PDF file with one page per table. As above, all the pages are scaled uniformly. [Added in v4.0.0]

10. The Stationery pane can now be exported to PDF format. Select File>Export data and choose stationery to PDF file. [Added in v4.0.0]

export_stationery_pdf

11. PDFs can now be exported as custom sizes. Select <Custom> from the drop-down list in the Export PDF window and set the appropriate dimensions and units. [Added in v4.0.0]

export_pdf_custom

12. Search has been added to the Schematic pane. Tables with names that do not contain the search term are hidden. [Added in v4.0.0]

schematic_search

13. Search in the Proximity pane now hides non-matching rows and columns, similar to the way search works in the Guests pane. [Added in v4.0.0]

14. Search in the Stationery layout window now hides non-matching items, similar to the way search works in the Guests pane. [Added in v4.0.0]

15. Search terms in the Guests and Groups pane are now reapplied to any new or renamed guests or groups. E.g. If you type “Fred” in the Guests search field only guests whose names contain Fred will be displayed (as previously). If you now rename a guest from “Fred” to “John” they will be hidden (new behaviour).  [Added in v4.0.0]

16. The Show drop-down list in the Guest chart pane, the Show drop-down list in the Stationery pane and the Filter drop-down list in the Export data window now has additional options for filtering guests based on RSVP status. This means that you can now distinguish between non-accepted guests that have declined and those that haven’t replied. You can also choose Select... to define your own selection. For example, you can choose a single guest to print a place card for. [Added in v4.0.0]

dropdown_filter

17. The following additional substitution texts have been added to the Stationery pane:

  • {table_groups_multi_line} : a list of groups at a table on multiple lines
  • {table_groups} : a list of groups at a table on one line

[Added in v4.0.0]

18. The speed of the automatic seat assignment has been improved by approximately 10%. [Added in v4.0.0]

19. Check the hide new/open/recent/save tool bar icons check box in the Preferences window to hide these common tool bar buttons. This box is unchecked by default on Windows and checked by default on MacOSX. [Added in v4.0.0]

20. When you add a new table it now defaults to the properties of the last added table of the same shape. E.g. if the last circular table you added had 10 seats, the next table added will default to 10 seats. [Added in v4.0.0]

21. When you add a new item of text to the Stationery pane it now defaults to the same size, colour and fonts previously added text. [Added in v4.0.0]

22. The default names for export files are now more explanatory. E.g. the default name for a PDF guest chart export from plan “my plan” is “my plan guest chart.pdf”. [Added in v4.0.0]

23. The following keyboard accelerators have been added:

  • Windows
    • Ctrl+B: Numbers and budget
    • Ctrl+E: Export
    • Ctrl+I: Import
    • Ctrl+Shift+I: Information (previously Ctrl+I)
    • Ctrl+,: Preferences
    • Ctrl+/: RSVP accepted
    • Ctrl+*: RSVP declined
    • Alt+Enter: Properties window
  • MacOSX
    • Cmd+B: Numbers and budget
    • Cmd+E: Export
    • Cmd+I: Import
    • Cmd+Shift+I: Information (previously Cmd+I)
    • Cmdl+/: RSVP accepted
    • Cmd+*: RSVP declined

A page summarising all the keyboard accelerators has also been added to the help in the User interface section. [Added in v4.0.0]

24. Moving the mouse wheel up and down now defaults to scrolling rather than zooming. This is for consistency between panes. You can change the default in the Preferences window. [Added in v4.0.0]

25. When importing VIP status the VIP status is set to on if the import field starts with ‘V’, ‘v’, ‘Y’ or ‘y’. Previously only ‘Y’ or ‘y’ were accepted. This means that you can use ‘vip’ to denote VIP status. [Added in v4.0.0]

26. The Order online tool bar button has been renamed to the more explanatory Posters & cards and the icon changed. It now displays a web page that allows you to order place cards as well as poster prints. [Added in v4.0.0]

27. Additional topics have been added to the How do I? button. [Added in v4.0.0]

28. The Print task in the Basic user interface has been renamed to Output for clarity. [Added in v4.0.0]

29. The positions of tables, shapes and floor plan text are now recorded in the .tp file in metres, not pixels. This should make it easier for other software to integrate with PerfectTablePlan. Pixel units are still supported for backward compatibility. See ‘Integrating with PerfectTablePlan’ in the help for more details. [Added in v4.0.0]

30. The maximum size of a shape has been increased from 100 to 999 (feet or metres). [Added in v4.0.0]

31. The Splash screen, application icon and auto-assign seats icon have been updated. [Added in v4.0.0]

msword_integration

3. PerfectTablePlan can now be installed by users who do not have Windows Administrator or Power User privileges. [Added in v4.0.0]

Macintosh only

1. The PerfectTablePlan dock icon will flash when the automatic seat assignment finishes. You can stop the flashing by clicking the main window or the dock icon. [Added in v4.0.0]

Removed features

The following features have been removed since version 3:

Windows and Macintosh

1. The Guest/group search option in the Preferences window has been removed. Search in the Guests and Groups pane now only works by hiding non-matching items. We feel this is more useful and more consistent with search in other panes. [Removed in v4.0.0]

Known issues

The following are known issues in version 4.0.1:

Macintosh only

1. In MacOSX 10.5 it is no longer possible to drag contacts directly from the Apple Address Book application to PerfectTablePlan. Instead you have to drag the contacts from Apple Address Book to the desktop and then from the desktop to PerfectTablePlan. This appears to be a bug in an underlying third party library. We hope it will be fixed soon.
